FR is regarded by many to be an expert in the field of Digital Terrestrial Reception. The design and production of high quality TV reception equipment has been its forte for nearly seventy years. So has it finally found an affordable solution for all those problems incurred by our crowded airwaves?

FR is well aware of the problems associated with crowded airwaves and has provided MATV and SMATV systems in cities which have 40 channels or more. This extensive knowledge and experience has been used to focus on the growing difficulties facing installers in the UK today.

An independent installer said: “An ideal solution would allow the level adjustment of individual channels, for both analogue and digital signals.”

FR has responded to this general consensus by launching a system which allows the weaker channels (usually digital) to be raised, ensuring digital terrestrial receivers will operate without being swamped by adjacent high channels (analogue).

Available in two versions, the high performance K Series enables signals to be sloped to compensate for system cable losses and is flexible enough to combine the signals from one or more aerials and/or transmitters.

The standard KF Series has a gain of 11dB with 35dB adjustment. It has a maximum output of 95dBµV per channel and is designed for equalising and levelling signals before launch in a broadband amplifier.

The KF Series is also designed for adjacent and stand alone UHF channel filtering of analogue and digital signals.

The K120 Series provides a range of high gain (45dB) modules with 30dB adjustment. Each module has a maximum output allowing the system to launch 40 or more channels, each at a maximum of 120 dBµV. In most cases further amplification is not required.

To extend the flexibility of the K Series, FM, DAB and Band III modules are available in both filter and amplifier types. The Series also includes a range of power supplies, modulators, digital terrestrial receivers, digital satellite receivers and IF amplifiers.

The technical challenge embraced by FR has evidently been met with outstanding results. Michele Gazzola, Area Export Manager at FR, said: “We have designed and produced a flexible yet cost effective system providing full channel level control and equalisation without compromising quality or reliability”.
