Allan J Smith (Electrical Services) Ltd, based in Falkirk Scotland, is one of the fastest growing electrical installations contracting business in the UK. Established in 1989 they have built up a highly respected and professional reputation achieving profitable annual sales approaching £7.5m from a diverse business portfolio.

One recent addition to that portfolio is the aerial and satellite installation division headed by Gary Shacklock, who joined the company in February 2002 and has helped to build up over £250,000 of business for the company. The majority of AJ Smith's installations are communal IRS systems and as Gary told Riggers recently, “The company saw it was perfectly placed to offer a TV & satellite installation service into both the domestic & commercial market, but I knew we would need to be able to offer our customers the latest and most up to date equipment within the rapidly developing field of digital television signal distribution”.

That was where Solutions Group came in, particularly the dTV Commercial division, who offer help and advice on the installation of satellite and terrestrial signals into multi-dwelling units. Gary knew from the first meeting with David Evans from the dTV Commercial that the business partnership was going to work. Gary told him that he "only wanted to use equipment of the highest quality and reliability, but that was also competitively priced." Once David had shown him the Vision™ product range, which met all these criteria, Gary felt he "hadn't looked back."

In fact both AJ Smith and Solutions Group have been moving rapidly forward since that first meeting. Gary has over forty five sites in progress of which the majority are IRS systems, with more work coming in on a weekly basis. The dTV Commercial division have been keeping Gary informed of the constantly growing and developing range of Vision™ products as they are introduced to the range.

“The most exciting product within the Vision™ range developed recently is their V5 system”, says Gary. “When David told me they had a new power cascadeable multiswitch system called V5, that would save me money both in materials and installation costs, I thought it sounded too good to be true. I ordered a V5 system so I could test and prove what I had been told about it, and was delighted with the results.”

“The Vision™ range”, says Gary, “offers me incredible flexibility, that gives me the confidence that whatever type of TV system we are asked to install, there is a Vision™ product that will meet my needs, and with the technical and commercial backup we get from Solutions dTV division, I know that Allan J Smith is going to become Scotland's biggest installer of satellite and terrestrial television systems over the next few years.
